Hello Amanda, thank you very much for your time!

Festivalstalker: What is the central story or message that runs throughout Villainous?

Amanda: The whole album is a self discovery journey. We wanted people to know it’s okay to be the villain in someone else’s story.

Festivalstalker: „My Own Name“ feels very personal. What’s the story behind the song?

Amanda: People at the merch booth would ask if I was Eva. The short answer was yes at the time. But Eva is only part of myself. My name is Amanda. Eva is a song reference. It was important to set the record straight with this album.

Festivalstalker: What does the title „Hello Hollow“ mean, and how did the idea for the song come about?

Amanda: I wrote that song when my dad passed away. It’s a very personal song about grief. Kind of welcoming the hollow in your chest after a significant loss.

Festivalstalker: Why did you choose „Teeth“ as the closing track for the album?

Amanda: The track list was meant to serve the listeners experience. We wanted fierce closers so Teeth and A Violent End felt like the right choice.

Festivalstalker: Is there one song on the album that you currently identify with the most?

Amanda: Every song on the album represents a part of my personal story soooo all of it? Hah. But if I had to choose it would be My Own Name and Dark Soul. Those songs were built around pretty pivotal moments for me.

Festivalstalker: Was there a track that changed completely during the production process?

Amanda: Survive My Scars. The song is a blend of what used to be two separate ideas musically. I love how it turned out.

Festivalstalker: Which song challenged you the most while writing or recording it?

Amanda: Don’t say I’m okay was tough vocally. I’ve never had that many high notes and scream parts in the same song.

Festivalstalker: In what ways does Villainous differ from your previous releases?

Amanda: It’s heavier and darker and feels more honest.

Festivalstalker: Which song are you most excited to perform live?

Amanda: My Own Name and Don’t Say I’m Okay. We’ve already added Awakening and Villainous and those are sick live songs as well. It feels great to see the crowd move with these new songs.

Festivalstalker: Describe Villainous in three words.

Amanda: Fierce. Reflective. Unapologetic.
