The Cruelty ist eine vielseitige, emotionale Post-Hardcore-Band aus der Bay Area, Kalifornien. Die kommende Single „Hand In Hand“ ist von unzähligen Rockbands der 2000er Jahre beeinflusst und enthält Ausschnitte von At The Drive In, Armor For Sleep, Mineral und Pianos Become The Teeth . Während die Band bisher ein vollwertiges Demo veröffentlicht hat, hat sie im letzten Jahr hart daran gearbeitet, ihren Sound und ihre Identität zu verfeinern – „Hand In Hand“ ist das erste Beispiel dieser Arbeit. Da die neue Single am 30. und 23. September erscheinen soll, hofft die Band, den neuen Titel live zu unterstützen und gleichzeitig ins Studio zurückzukehren, um ein vollständiges Album fertigzustellen, das 2024 veröffentlicht werden soll.
Co-vocalist/bassist Jeff Wright says, “Hand In Hand is a direct observation from a darker time in (bandmate) Cody’s life – shrouded in possibly one too many visits to the local dive bar. Written from watching a houseless person from afar while they had a breakdown – they quite literally dropped a Safeway cake on the hot pavement and ate it off the ground. After seeing that go down and meeting them, it was a reminder that when all things seem lost, sometimes all it takes is someone to lend a hand and guide you out of the dark.”
